Years of combined landscape
architecture experience

Biophilia Design Collective was founded on a belief that the landscapes we design should do more than look beautiful — they should restore what has been disturbed, protect what remains resilient, and create a reciprocal relationship between people and the natural world.

"Landscapes should enrich lives, cultivate connection, nourish community, and support the ecological and cultural fabric of the places we call home."

Every project begins with deep listening — to the site, to its history, to the people who will inhabit it. We read the existing ecological cues, the soil, the hydrology, the light, the vernacular plant communities. From that reading emerges a design that feels inevitable rather than imposed.

Our work spans single-family residential gardens, multi-family developments, commercial and civic landscapes, and environmentally sensitive sites across Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. What unites them is an insistence on site-specificity — no two projects look alike, because no two sites are alike.

The Collective

Bianca
Bodley

Owner & Principal Designer

19+ years of experience

Bianca founded Biophilia Design Collective with a vision for landscape architecture that goes beyond aesthetics to address ecology, culture, and community. Her practice is defined by rigour, curiosity, and an unwillingness to accept the generic. She brings 19 years of experience on projects ranging from intimate residential gardens to large-scale BC Housing developments on sensitive waterway sites.

Shane
Budish

Senior Landscape Architect

MLA, AALA, CSLA

Shane brings deep technical expertise and a rigorous design sensibility honed through years of practice across complex residential, multi-family, and commercial projects. His background in both architecture and landscape architecture gives him an integrated understanding of how built environments meet the ground — and how that threshold can be made meaningful.

Tyler
Yestal

Intermediate Landscape Designer / Technologist

MLA

Tyler's strength lies at the intersection of design vision and technical documentation. He specializes in translating design intent into precise, constructible drawing sets and has a particular interest in stormwater management, grading, and the technical complexities of environmentally sensitive sites.

Charlotte
Twyford

Junior Landscape Designer

BLA, BCSLA Intern

Charlotte brings a keen eye for plant community dynamics and a passion for ecological design. Her work focuses on the planting layer — the element of landscape architecture most deeply connected to seasonal change, habitat value, and the sensory experience of a garden. She is a BCSLA Intern working toward full registration.

Anna
Pate

Junior Landscape Designer

MLA, BCSLA Intern

Anna's practice is rooted in a deep interest in the relationship between designed landscapes and community wellbeing. She brings research-grounded thinking to each project and has particular expertise in native planting design, biophilic design principles, and the social dimensions of shared outdoor spaces.
